UPVC Timber Alternative Sash Windows in a Semi-Detached House, Hampshire
Our customer got in touch as they weren’t happy with the bay windows on the front of their property. They had been replaced approximately 7 years previously by a joiner however several issues surfaced during that period. The most prominent issues being that the materials used in the construction weren’t suitable and the wood panel between the bays had extensive rot which was a concern.
In additional the size and fitment of the sash windows was incorrect for the size of the bay, and this resulted in sections of timber protruding out from the bay and separation between the different sections. The windows themselves weren’t of the highest quality with wide profiles and peeling paint which required constant maintenance. Overall, it was an investment which hadn’t gone to plan and required a complete refit to rectify.
Our customer chose the Bygone Harmony Sash Window range for the replacements, these are high quality UPVC timber alternative windows. Thermally very efficient, they have many of the features present on an original timber window, for example a traditional 39mm meeting rail, a wood grain finish and timber style butt joints.
The panel between the ground floor and first floor bays was custom made by us to replicate the panel featured on the neighbouring property, from laminated layers of water-resistant marine ply, the decorative elements measured and routed by hand, and weatherproofed with appropriate exterior paint, colour matched to the frames.
The installation went smoothly, and the team took some issues that the old windows presented in their stride, and the result is a completely renewed, weatherproof and well fitted bay, matching the neighbouring property.
What our customer said
“Lovely professional company to deal with and I am very pleased with my new windows. The guys were great to have in the house and worked really hard - the placement of our old windows threw up a few problems and they had to rebuild some of the support structure of the 2 bays, but it didn’t phase them - they dealt with it brilliantly and made us aware of all they were doing at each stage. Very clean and tidy too. Floors and furniture were all covered and taped up. Have had many compliments and they really do look like the old wooden sashes.”
